coasteering

What is coasteering?

Coasteering is an exhilarating, combined rock and water, activity which generally takes place along the inter tidal zone of a rocky coastline. It involves moving along the coastline via the rocks, cliffs and ocean, without using any craft (boat, surf board, canoe etc); this is achieved in a variety of way including swimming, climbing, scrambling, water jumps and diving. Those taking part will wear protective footwear, wetsuits, buoyancy aids and helmets.

Coasteering is a great adventure activity for groups, it can be tailored for family groups with older children and teens, and is also particularly popular for hen and stag weekends.

A very similar activity is canyoning or gorge walking which takes place down river gorges. Also take a look at our bouldering section which also covers deep water soloing (DWS) or psicobloc climbing.
