DEFINITIONS FOR TOUR OPERATORS WISHING TO BE LISTED:
Apply for a listing >>
The travel-quest adventure expeditions section is intended for listing organised groups undertaking adventurous journeys with a definite purpose – to climb an unclimbed or little climbed mountain, to explore a remote and little visited area, or to search for previously undiscovered historical remains are examples. Examples will include polar, arctic and antarctic expeditions; sahara and Everest expeditions.
Our adventure expeditions section deals with the sort of trips that don't appear in standard adventure holiday brochures, they'll usually be one-off trips and will tend to be tend to be fairly unique. Expeditions will often be specialist in nature and may require specific skills and knowledge from the participants (e.g. skills in caving, sailing, mountaineering, archaeology, botany ...). This also includes volunteer and charity expeditions where volunteers participate alongside professionals to undertake exploration, experimentation and research or to raise funds for a charity. Deciding if trips are true expeditions or just very adventurous tours is not always easy, in such cases a travel-quest editor will make the final decision.
Expedition cruises will go in our cruise section.
