In this section we list glider holidays and courses and soaring vacations; we are referring to flights by conventional gliders (also know as a sailplanes) – specifically aircraft without an engine, aerodynamically streamlined with long, thin wings, narrow cockpit and slender fuselage, to enable them to lift up and soar in rising air. Gliders will have rigid fixed wings and either skids or a wheeled undercarriage, they will be be towed aloft or launched from a winch or catapult.
Although technically a soaring or gliding aircraft, within the Travel-Quest Directory, hang-gliders (and microlights) are dealt with in a separate dedicated section here.
