UK: Day horse drawn carriage driving taster
The organisers of horse drawn holidays listed almost all provide driver training (plus instruction on horse care!) at the start of the trip – but if you fancy a taster before you commit to a multi-day holiday why not give carriage driving a go? It'll give you the feel of what it's like to be in charge of your own horsepower, just bear in mind that carriage driving may well be at a faster pace than your horse powered barge, waggon train or caravan!
This section covers all short breaks and holidays by horse drawn vehicle; including horse drawn caravans, gypsy caravan or vardo travel, wagon trail trips in the wild west of America, and water based travel by horse drawn barge or canal boat.
These tours might be guided, with a wagoner leading the way and helping with the horses; or self-driven trips where, generally, horse management and driving instruction is provided at the start of the journey. These holiday packages will usually provide accommodation in the towed waggon, van or barge; but occasionally they will offer separate B&B or hotel accommodation, with just the travel provided by the horse powered vehicle.
