Quirkyalone camps, getaway camps for single grown-ups

singles camp groupSummer camps of all kinds are big in North America so it's no surprise to find camps created just for single people. To be more exact the Quirkyalone Camp is a getaway camp for Quirkyaloners – who are just people who enjoy being single! The camps are for adults and are at two different holistic retreat centers one in Hollyhock, on an island 100 miles north of Vancouver and the other at the Omega Institute, two hours north of New York City.

What is Quirkyalone?
In fact Quirkyalone is much more just a couple of summer camps, its a whole movement created for people who are happy to live a single life and want to celebrate that fact and share it with others. They won't resist a relationship if the right one comes along but don't regard it as their sole aim – living a fulfilling active single life is more important than being in an unsatisfying relationship.

You can take a test to see if you are a Quirkyaloner on their website, where you'll also find recent news and an active online community and forum with over 2,600 members. Sasha Cagen is the the founder of the movement, the author of the book 'Quirkyalone: A Manifesto for Uncompromising Romantics' and the force behind International Quirkyalone Day – February 14 – an alternative to Valentine's Day for everyone, be they single or in a couple.

What about the Quirkyalone summer camps?
The camps are billed as getaways for grown-ups, an opportunity to meet new people, broaden your outlook on being single and on making meaningful connections of all kinds. It's a rare gathering of singles where the focus will not be on finding a partner! Instead you'll just have a great time hiking, swimming, canoeing, watching movies, soaking in a hot tub, dancing, doing yoga or tai chi, eating delicious – mostly vegetarian – meals and just slowing down, relaxing and enjoying nature. The camps are open to people of all ages and nationalities.

For International singles
The Qurikyalone camps will be pleased to welcome single people from the UK, Europe, Australia, Asia and Africa, so if you are planning a trip to to North America why not include one of the camps as part of your trip?

Other singles camps
Many other singles camps we've come across in North America are based around religion and are set up by religious groups – which is great if you're a follower of that faith, but not so good if you're not religious or if you simply want a fun getaway – the Quirkyalone Camp could be what you are after. You'll find Quirkyalone and other singles camps listed on our singles holidays directory pages.
