What is a Summer School?
Within the Travel-Quest Directory we use the term Summer School in its broadest sense and bearing in mind our role to record specialist holidays and multi-day residential recreational courses. Summer school programmes listed may be targeted at participants of any age, and the subject areas covered may include leisure and non-academic subjects as well as educational school or college subjects.
Some summer schools will be very targeted at specific interest areas (e.g. music summer schools or sports summer schools), while others may be more general in nature. Some may be offered to specific age groups (be that children, teens or adults), or be targeted to a specific user group, (people with a disability for example).
Those listed with specifically identify them selves as a Summer School and in general the activities will take place during the period of the summer school, college or university academic vacation.
CATEGORY DEFINITION FOR TOUR OPERATORS WISHING TO BE LISTED:
The travel-quest summer schools and summer camps section lists residential summer schools for children, teens and adults. Summer schools are defined as courses that take place in teaching establishments during the summer break from normal studies. Travel-Quest is a specialist holidays directory so the summer schools and camps listed should generally be for recreational interests. should be residential and should be open the general public. Subject areas covered include language, music, dance, drama, theatre, acting, arts and crafts, sport, computer studies and games. Religious summer schools and camps are also listed.
