WALES: Family holiday at Dale Fort, Pembrokeshire
An inexpensive family break at Dale Fort, a converted Victorian Military Fort located in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. Dale Fort is in a spectacular position on a rocky peninsula, about as close to the sea as you can get. It offers comfortable accommodation with indoor common rooms and a bar to relax in, outside is a games field and a lawn and decked area for relaxing. Included in all stays are all meals and unlimited hot/cold drinks, one free activity for all the family per night stayed, and expert advice on exploring the area.
The centre hosts a range of activities (like pond dipping and wild art)
to get the kids involved in nature and also has its own boat for trips out onto the water.

Care for the Family is a UK charity which promotes the family; its stated aims are to promote strong family life and helping people who are facing family difficulties.
They also arrange family breaks – multi-activity and family-building activity weekends and weeks for lone parents. These are available to single mums or dads with children aged 5 to 16 years of age. They have breaks available at centres in: Castle Douglas in Scotland; Snowdonia in North Wales; Devon and Northamptonshire in England; as well as a floating centre in a converted lightship moored in the Blackwater estuary in Essex, England. They promise exciting activities, fun and opportunities to make new friends with other single parent families.
All holidays are subsidised by Care for the Family and a limited number of bursaries are available. Parents receiving Income Support or Jobseeker's Allowance are entitled to apply for a bursary.

One Parent Families Scotland is a community website for Scottish single parents, set up to inform, support and inspire lone parent families; it's packed full of information and advice including a Holidays Factsheet with a list of holiday providers and a Holiday Trust Funds Factsheet which lists organisations that might help single parents fund a holiday (unfortunately these were both rather out-of-date when we last checked, if they've been updated since then please let us know).

The travel-quest single parent holidays section lists travel companies offering dedicated single parent family holidays, companies making special arrangements for lone parents, or offering special deals for the single parent family within their general holiday offers. We are looking for companies who offer trips where any single supplement is reduced or done away with altogether, and where child reductions, discounts and offers are based on a single adult booking (rather than two as is the norm) and/or where special consideration is given to lone parent families (e.g. in rooming arrangements, child care, practical help and facilities provided). We are particularly interested in listing dedicated holidays and vacations where single parent families can meet other similar families. We also include single parent travel clubs and charities that provide holidays and breaks for their members).
