Reiki, a type of alternative or complementary therapy, is an ancient Tibetan tradition; a system of natural healing that was rediscovered over 100 years ago by Mikao Usui, a Japanese Buddhist. The word means 'universal life energy' and refers to the energy in and around every living thing.
Reiki treatments, given by Reiki masters and teachers, are used primarily for for stress reduction, relaxation and to promote healing. It's a holistic treatment that affects the whole person: physical body, emotions, mind and spirit – resulting in deep relaxation and feelings of wellbeing, peace and security. Reiki uses a technique of hands-on-healing where 'universal energy' is transferred via the hands of the practitioner.
