What is Catskiing?
Rivaling heli-skiing as a means to access the off-piste/backcountry, snowcat skiing/boarding uses snowcats/piste bashers (tracked vehicles with passenger cabs) for access and gaining the vertical. While snowcat access is slower than a helicopter ride it has the advantage of costing a lot less and is also less wind/weather dependant. These days snowcat passenger cabs are comfortable, warm, reasonably quiet and the ride up is generally a very sociable affair.

Catskiing is offered either as day trips or multi-day; our directory concentrates on multi-day holiday packages that include accommodation, which might be in comfortable resort hotels or wilderness lodges, huts or even yurts.

Snowcat skiing is biggest in North America (Canada boasts around 90% of the world's catskiing operators), but we are starting to see catskiing operations in Europe and other parts of the World now, as you'll see from our directory listings.
