FRANCE: Dordogne canoe and kayak options
The Dordogne area is one of the most popular summer holiday destinations in France, rich in scenery, sunshine, châteaux, picturesque villages, gorgeous gorges and simply nature at its best. Ever popular is a trip kayaking or canoeing the river through this beautiful valley and be that on multi-day journeys or as day outings from a fixed base. The canoeing is mellow (grade 1, suitable for all) and is great for beginners, a family trip, or just a relaxing paddle. A couple of options:
For a relaxing multi-day journey down the river in open canoes.
For canoeing or kayaking the river on day trips from a fixed camp base, with a choice of five camps in the Dordogne.
Kayaking and canoeing holidays; this section lists canoe and kayak tours and vacations on inland waterways, rivers, lakes and canal; paddling trips on flat or white water in the UK and Worldwide.
Covering trips by open canoe (sometimes described as Canadian canoe in the UK!), or by river or white water kayak. These might be guided or self-guided trips, including packages where canoe equipment (boat, paddles, buoyancy aid/life jacket and, where appropriate, spray deck and helmet etc) are supplied, and where the logistics of the trip (e.g. maps, boat carriage to put-in, take-out points etc.) are dealt with as part of the package. Also canoe holidays from a fixed base, be it camping, B&B, hostel, activity centre or hotel.
