DEFINITIONS FOR TOUR OPERATORS WISHING TO BE LISTED:
Travel-quest's wine making courses & holidays section lists residential multi-day courses, holidays, weekends and short breaks where the primary focus is on viticulture and the making of wine. The emphasis should be firmly on the making – learning hands-on how to produce it at home, or about how it's done on a commercial scale. Courses will mainly be for home wine makers or hobbyists. Many will provide practical hand-on wine making experience and may include subjects such as; grape selection, pressing the fruit, the addition of sugar and yeast to the must, fermentation, siphoning, storage and bottling. Additional areas may include: the making of fruit wines (using fruits other than grapes), wine makers recipes, country wine making, and the use of winemaking kits. These holidays, breaks and courses may take place in a vineyard or winery, but often they will be held in a location not directly related to the production of wine such as a hotel conference facility, an activity centre or classroom setting.
