A horse riding holiday in the UK for a small group

REQUEST:
Hi, we are a small group of women, mostly in our 30's, and we'd love a weekend away together learning how to ride horses (none of us has had any real experience). Needs to be in the UK, preferably somewhere in the South of England so we don't have to travel too far, and needs to be somewhere in great countryside, with good accommodation and opportunities for relaxing and eating well too! Sue and the girls – Essex, UK

TRAVEL-QUEST SPECIAL SEARCH REPLY:
We'd recommend a look at what Equestrian Escapes has to offer, at the time of writing they have a riding break in Berkshire based in a beautiful 18th century farmhouse with a pool on site too; or try their 'Horses & Chocolate' break in Cheshire or their 'Horses, Beaches & Wine' break in Dorset. Also close to you are Rural Rides and Ditchling Common Stud in West Sussex and Limes Farm Equestrian Centre in Kent.
For more remote country you'll have to travel a little further; Equine Adventures offers weekends in Somerset and Wales. Also in Wales, FreeRein Riding Holidays offer learn to ride horse courses and weekends for novice riders in the Radnor Hills and the Cambrian Mountains. Knowle Riding Centre in Somerset not only offers riding tuition but also some lovely country house accommodation with its own bar, pool and games room. Also in Somerset, PineLodge Riding Holidays offer more basic accommodation but the opportunity to ride in Exmoor National Park. Collacott Farm in North Devon offers mid-week or weekend riding breaks with BHS qualified instruction and comfortable cottage accommodation.
[Please now visit our horse riding breaks section for more details and links.]
