ITALY: Tuscany Villa, former C12th watermill
Step back in time – Villa Turino is an exceptional holiday property originally dating back to the C12th century when it started out as a water mill for the Monastery of St Antimo. Later it was rebuilt and the mill was still working up until about sixty years ago.
In style the interior is medieval and there are beautiful mellow stone walls and exposed wooden beams. The main house is on two levels with an open plan layout using sumptuous quality furnishings that beautifully blend contemporary and antique. The villa has six bedrooms, but can sleep up to eight by also using the double divan in the upstairs study. The good size bathrooms have been brought up to date while retaining a vintage feel.
At ground floor level is a spacious living/dining area and the modern kitchen is fitted with stainless steel appliances.
Outside there is direct access to the patio from the kitchen and then expansive well-cared-for gardens. There is also a large private swimming pool.
From the villa it's a 5min walk to the beautiful St. Antimo Abbey, where a community of monks still reside and gather every day for choral singing.
