SCOTLAND: Family holiday the Isle of Cumbrae
An inexpensive family break at the Millport Centre on Scotland's most accessible island – the Isle of Cumbrae in the Firth of Clyde.
Explore this magical island and have your own family eco-adventure. The Millport Centre offers a range of different sized dormitory rooms, single and twin rooms, many en-suite. Family Meetup groups include many for single parents and some that are directly related to travel holidays. This link» lists Meetup groups within 25 miles of London and, at the time of writing, includes groups such as: Single Parents Hub; One Plus - Single Parent Holidays; Authentic Holidays for Families & Single Parents; Parent & Baby Hiking Club – to name just a few. And if you're not in London just adjust the search at the top of the page to any city in the World!
The Single Parent Travel Club is a non-profit travel club for single parent families, overseen and run by a volunteer group members.
Their website and public Facebook page give an introduction and details of how to sign up, but the action all takes place via their private Facebook group where members can post their days out and holiday plans, or can join in with a outing already posted by another member. By booking group accommodation and sharing the costs members are able to afford holidays that may be out of reach otherwise. The committee organise also organise an AGM weekend each year.
The WAY Foundation is a volunteer-run organisation offering support and friendship to young bereaved people. WAY (Widowed and Young) organises weekend trips and holidays for members.
Joining WAY provides an opportunity to get to know like minded people to go on holiday with. WAY holidays give members the chance to take a break with others who understand just how hard it can be to take a holiday after a partners death. Recent trips have included New Year ski trips, Father's Day trips in the UK, an annual trip to Center Parcs in Sherwood Forest. Many WAY members are single parents.
